just whilst we concept the seventieth annual emmy awards changed into nicely on its way to snooze-ville, glenn weiss (and our #mancrushmonday, tbh) just reinvigorated the entire rite with an onstage proposal.
while accepting the award for super directing for a variety special for remaining year's oscars, weiss amazed absolutely everyone inside l.a.'s microsoft theater by way of asking jan svendsen to marry him.
weiss devoted the honour to his mother, who he said died some weeks earlier. "mother always believed in finding the light in matters and she loved my gf jan," he shared. "jan, you are the sunshine in my life. and mother said specifically, don't ever let go of your sunshine. you marvel why i do not like to name you my girlfriend? because i want to call you my spouse."
Without marvel here, jan burst into tears as stars like leslie jones, benedict cumberbatchand more led a standing ovation for the bride-to-be.
with out a moment to waste, jan then took the stage for the right proposal.
"this is the engagement ring that my dad put on my mom's finger 67 years in the past," he shared before turning to the camera and quipping, "and to my sisters and brothers, i did not swipe it. dad knows i've it, okay?"
"jan," he persevered, "i need to put this ring that my mom wore to your finger in the front of a majority of these humans and in front of my mother and your dad and mom watching from above. will you marry me?"
yes! 1,000,000 times yes!
